Cape Town Convention and Aircraft Protocol – Accession by Rwanda
On 28 January 2010 the Government of the Republic of Rwanda’s instruments of accession to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Aircraft Equipment were deposited with Unidroit. The Republic of Rwanda made declarations under Articles 39(1), 40, 52, 53 and 54(2) of the Convention, and Articles XXIX, XXX(1), XXX(2) and XXX(3) of the Aircraft Protocol. The Convention and the Aircraft Protocol will enter into force for the Republic of Rwanda on 1 May 2010. Cape Town Convention – Accession by Togo
On 27 January 2010 the Government of the Togolese Republic’s instrument of accession to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment was deposited with Unidroit. The Togolese Republic made no declarations under the Convention. The Convention will enter into force for the Togolese Republic, subject to Article 49(2) of the Convention, on 1 May 2010. Information Session for Potential Bidders to be the Registrar of the International Rail Registry: On February 25, 2010, at the UNIDROIT headquarters in Rome, Italy, there will be a one-day information session on the Luxembourg Protocol to the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the International Rail Registry (IRR) to be created under that Protocol. The purpose of the information session will be to provide information to persons and entities who may wish to be selected as the Registrar of the IRR. Click here for press release.

From 5 to 9 October 2009, the final session of the diplomatic Conference to adopt a Convention on Substantive Rules for Intermediated Securities took place in Geneva, at the invitation of the Government of Switzerland and under the auspices of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (Unidroit). On 9 October, the Conference adopted the Unidroit Convention on Substantive Rules for Intermediated Securities. On the same day, the Final Act was signed by 37 States and the Convention by one State (Bangladesh). The Convention is now open for signature at the Unidroit Headquarters in Rome.
