Secondments at UNIDROIT
The Secretariat welcomes civil servants of UNIDROIT Member States joining the UNIDROIT staff temporarily on secondment as well as jurists (practicing lawyers, international civil servants, legal counsel to companies, representatives of professional associations, academics). "Secondments" implies that the candidate's salary is paid by his/her present employer.
Required qualifications:
- Degree in law obtained from an accredited Law School in a Member State. Special expertise in areas such as commercial law, company law and securities regulation, banking law, comparative law, conflict of laws is an asset.
- Experience in Government, the judiciary, private practice or industry is desirable.
- Good command, both written and spoken, of at least one of the working languages of UNIDROIT (English and French); proficiency in another language is an asset.
- Good drafting capabilities (dissertation, scholarly publications such as law review articles, etc. will be taken into account).
Duties:
- To carry out research on particular items of the current and future Work Programmes of UNIDROIT and related areas.
- To prepare and take part in the various meetings organised by the Secretariat (Study Groups, Committees of Governmental Experts, ad hoc task forces, Diplomatic Conferences).
- To carry out preparatory work of documentary research and reporting in accordance with the agenda of the Secretariat.
- Other duties may be determined in accordance with the needs of the Secretariat and of the interests of the seconding Government or organisation and the candidate.
