2012 ANNUAL MEETING OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW (LIMA, 8-10 NOVEMBER 2012)

The Secretary-General addressed the 2012 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Private International Law (Lima, 8-10 November 2012), stressing the significance of the UNIDROIT Principles for international commercial practice in the Americas. The American Association of Private International Law was founded in Asuncion, on 6 October 2007. The purpose of the Association is inter alia to reaffirm the need of including Private International Law as a mandatory (or core) subject in regular courses at Law Schools and to strengthen the teaching of the aforesaid subject in postgraduate courses; and to cooperate with the Organization of American States regarding Inter American draft rules on the subject, as well as with other instances and universal, regional, sub-regional and national institutions, both public and private, in charge of the drafting and development of Private International Law.
