UNIDROIT and UNCITRAL, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, joined forces on 6-7 May 2019 to explore possible areas of cooperation and future work in the field of Smart Contracts, Artificial Intelligence and Distributed Ledger Technology, upon specific request of their membership. As agreed with UNCITRAL and endorsed by the UNIDROIT Governing Council at its 98th session, the sister organisations will continue cooperating to refine the scope of a possible common project for the 2020-2020 UNIDROIT Work Programme.
