img01The 4th Workshop for project on Best Practices in the Field of Electronic Registry Design and Operation took place at the UNIDROIT Headquarters in Rome on 9 September.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the meeting was held in hybrid format, with 9 participants present at the Institute, 42 remote participants, and over 20 remote observers.

img02It is run under the auspices of the Cape Town Convention Academic Project, in partnership with the UNIDROIT Foundation, Aviareto, and the Aviation Working Group, with the aim of providing guidance on the design and operation of electronic registries. To assess best practice, this project has identified Critical Performance Factors (CPFs) against which electronic registries can be measured.

img03The project brings together international stakeholders with expertise in the design, operation and evaluation of different types of electronic registries, including government representatives, officials from regional and intergovernmental organisations, policy makers, private sector experts and academics. The fourth workshop built upon earlier workshops in 2018 and 2019, and provided an opportunity to evaluate the project’s progress, share international experiences, and identify common problems associated with the design and operation of electronic registries.

A report for the Workshop will be published in the coming months.
