IPLD 2026 BEPCAC – Tutor Scholarships

Background and Objectives

Within the framework of the International Programme for Law and Development (IPLD), UNIDROIT is pleased to announce a call for applications for Tutor scholarships.

The IPLD promotes the dissemination and practical implementation of UNIDROIT legal instruments through training and capacity-building activities.

Participants develop projects related to the implementation of UNIDROIT instruments in their respective contexts.

Scope of Activities

Selected tutors will:

  • assist participants in the development and structuring of their projects;
  • provide methodological guidance and legal research support;
  • review, edit and proofread project outputs;
  • facilitate interaction between participants and lecturers;
  • contribute to the overall knowledge-sharing dimension of the Programme;
  • engage with the activities of the Programme and support its collaborative environment.

Duration

The duration follows the IPLD calendar:

  • Africa Plus: [May 1 – July 31, 2026]
  • BEPCAC: [August 1 – October 31, 2026]

Tutors are expected to be available throughout each programme period.

Modality

In-person at UNIDROIT Headquarters (Rome), with online preparatory and follow-up activities.

Scholarship Amount

Each tutor will receive EUR 900 per month.

Eligibility

Applicants should:

  • hold a degree in law or related field;
  • have relevant academic or professional experience;
  • demonstrate ability to support participants;
  • have an excellent command of English.

The scholarship is granted as support for gaining professional or research experience and does not establish any form of employment or professional relationship with UNIDROIT.

The scholarship amount is gross and may be subject to taxation in accordance with applicable fiscal regulations.

Selected candidates are responsible for ensuring adequate insurance coverage (including accident and third-party liability) during their participation, unless otherwise specified by UNIDROIT.

Selection will be conducted by an internal committee. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

UNIDROIT reserves the right not to award any scholarship.
