Rome\/Bonn, 19 mai 2026<\/em> \u2013 UNIDROIT et l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Bonn ont sign\u00e9 un Protocole d\u2019accord officialisant leur collaboration. Ce Protocole d\u2019accord a \u00e9t\u00e9 sign\u00e9 lors d\u2019une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie virtuelle le 19 mai 2026 par le Professeur Ignacio Tirado, Secr\u00e9taire G\u00e9n\u00e9ral d\u2019UNIDROIT, et le Professeur Martin B\u00f6se, Doyen de la Facult\u00e9 de droit et d\u2019\u00e9conomie de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Bonn.<\/p>\n

La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie a r\u00e9uni Mme Philine Wehling, Fonctionnaire d\u2019UNIDROIT, ainsi que le Professeur Matthias Weller, M. Juan Rowlands (Chercheur associ\u00e9) et M. Sven Au (Chercheur associ\u00e9 et Coordinateur de la coop\u00e9ration internationale) de la Facult\u00e9 de droit et d\u2019\u00e9conomie de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Bonn.<\/p>\n

Ce Protocole d\u2019accord \u00e9tablit un cadre pour un large \u00e9ventail d\u2019activit\u00e9s conjointes, notamment la recherche juridique, les \u00e9changes universitaires et l\u2019enseignement. Il encourage en outre la collaboration dans le domaine du droit compar\u00e9 et transnational, ainsi que les initiatives visant \u00e0 soutenir la r\u00e9forme juridique et l\u2019\u00e9laboration de cadres juridiques internationaux en droit commercial et dans d\u2019autres domaines du droit priv\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Dans son allocution, le Professeur Tirado s\u2019est f\u00e9licit\u00e9 de la conclusion du Protocole d\u2019accord et a soulign\u00e9 la forte convergence entre les missions d\u2019UNIDROIT et de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Bonn, qui consistent \u00e0 promouvoir des cadres juridiques et socio-\u00e9conomiques stables facilitant les \u00e9changes culturels et commerciaux transfrontaliers. Il a r\u00e9affirm\u00e9 l\u2019engagement de longue date d\u2019UNIDROIT en faveur de la coop\u00e9ration internationale avec les \u00e9tablissements universitaires et de la promotion de l\u2019harmonisation et de la modernisation du droit priv\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une collaboration soutenue \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale.<\/p>\n

Le Professeur B\u00f6se a salu\u00e9 ce partenariat, soulignant l\u2019importance de la recherche juridique comparative et internationale dans un monde interconnect\u00e9 et r\u00e9affirmant l\u2019engagement de la Facult\u00e9 \u00e0 soutenir les travaux d\u2019UNIDROIT en mati\u00e8re d\u2019harmonisation du droit priv\u00e9. Il a en outre fait remarquer que, dans un contexte de tensions g\u00e9opolitiques croissantes qui mettent de plus en plus \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9preuve la coop\u00e9ration internationale, des organisations telles qu\u2019UNIDROIT d\u00e9montrent que le dialogue transfrontalier reste \u00e0 la fois possible et essentiel.<\/p>\n

Le Professeur Matthias Weller a exprim\u00e9 sa gratitude pour la mise en place de ce partenariat et a soulign\u00e9 les importantes perspectives qu\u2019il ouvre pour une future collaboration entre l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Bonn et UNIDROIT, au b\u00e9n\u00e9fice des experts, des chercheurs et des \u00e9tudiants des deux institutions.<\/p>\n

UNIDROIT and University of Bonn Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Collaboration<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Rome\/Bonn, 19 May 2026 \u2013 UNIDROIT and the University of Bonn have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalising their collaboration. The MoU was signed during a virtual ceremony on 19 May 2026 by Professor Ignacio Tirado, Secretary-General of UNIDROIT, and Professor Martin B\u00f6se, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bonn.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was attended by Legal Officer Philine Wehling from UNIDROIT, as well as Professor Matthias Weller, Mr Juan Rowlands (Research Associate), and Mr Sven Au (Research Associate and Coordinator of International Cooperation) from the Faculty of Law and Economics of the University of Bonn.<\/p>\n

The MoU establishes a framework for a broad range of joint activities, including legal research, scholarly exchange, and teaching. It further promotes collaboration in comparative and transnational law, as well as initiatives supporting legal reform and the development of international legal frameworks in commercial law and other areas of private law.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Professor Tirado welcomed the conclusion of the MoU and highlighted the strong alignment between the missions of UNIDROIT and the University of Bonn in fostering stable legal and socio-economic frameworks that facilitate cultural and commercial exchange across borders. He reaffirmed UNIDROIT\u2019s longstanding commitment to international engagement with academic institutions and to advancing the harmonisation and modernisation of private law through sustained collaboration worldwide.<\/p>\n

Professor B\u00f6se expressed appreciation for the partnership, stressing the importance of comparative and international legal research in an interconnected world and reaffirming the Faculty\u2019s commitment to supporting UNIDROIT\u2019s work on the harmonisation of private law. He further noted that, amidst growing geopolitical tensions that increasingly challenge international cooperation, organisations such as UNIDROIT demonstrate that cross-border dialogue remains both possible and essential.<\/p>\n

Professor Matthias Weller expressed gratitude for the establishment of the partnership and emphasised the significant opportunities it creates for future collaboration between the University of Bonn and UNIDROIT, benefiting experts, scholars, and students at both institutions.<\/p>\n
