THE 1995 UNIDROIT CONVENTION – TWENTY YEARS AFTER ITS ADOPTION: THE MEDITERRANEAN AS A TESTING GROUND

UNIDROIT, in cooperation with the “Jean Monnet” Department of Political Sciences of the University of Naples and SIOI (Società italiana per l’Organizzazione Internazionale), co-organised a Conference on 12 May 2015 on the UNIDROIT 1995 Convention and the Meditterranean, at SIOI Headquarters. The Conference was among the events planned under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Italy’s membership in the United Nations.

The intent of the seminar was to discuss the effectiveness of this Convention in an area that is witnessing a near-systematic defiling of cultural objects alongside ever-expanding armed conflicts, and included, among other distinguished participants, speeches from UNIDROIT’s President, Professor Alberto Mazzoni and the Secretary-General, José Angelo Estrella Faria.
