UNIDROIT ATTENDS THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “CULTURAL HERITAGE: DISASTER PREPAREDNESS, RESPONSE AND RECOVERY” IN LISBON (3 AND 4 NOVEMBER 2016)

2016 marks the 50th commemoration of the floods that devastated the Calouste Gulbenkian Collections and the conference therefore comes at an opportune time to collectively address the concepts, principles and good practices for disaster prevention and the response to emergency situations. Along with the risks of earthquakes, floods, fire climate change or armed conflicts, the illicit trafficking in cultural objects often comes as a consequence. The issue of restitution of such objects becomes central for resilience.
