UNIDROIT IN LISBON FOR INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CULTURAL HERITAGE

On 3 and 4 November 2016, Ms. Marina Schneider, UNIDROIT Senior Legal Officer and Treaty Depositary, took part in the International Conference: «Cultural Heritage: Disaster Preparedness, Response and Recovery» held in Lisbon. The Conference aimed to encourage direct cooperation between heritage organisations, research institutes and the civil protection services in disaster sistuations by exchanging views in the fileds of heritage preservation and disaster risk prevention.

On that occasion, Ms Marina Schneider explained the role and significance of the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects in the fight against illicit trafficking of looted objects, particularly following a natural disaster or intentional damage.
