Inauguration Ceremony of the Asian Transnational Law Centre

On 10 July 2025, the special wing of the library hosting the UNIDROIT Asian Transnational Law Centre (ATLC) was officially inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the headquarters of UNIDROIT in Rome.

The ceremony was officiated by UNIDROIT Secretary-General Professor Ignacio Tirado; Mr Lam Ting-Kwok Paul, GBS, SC, JP, Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China; Minister-Counsellor Ms Jin Luo from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China; Deputy Secretary-General Professor Anna Veneziano; and Ms Linda Yang of YINGKE Law Firm (as founding sponsor).

Established under the UNIDROIT Academy, the ATLC serves as a dedicated platform for dialogue, research, and cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region. It is a forward-looking initiative that supports the promotion of UNIDROIT’s legal instruments, with the broader aim of addressing emerging legal challenges in Asia and advancing regional legal harmonisation and integration.

Since its launch, the ATLC has focused on enhancing the practical relevance of UNIDROIT’s work by making its instruments more accessible, understandable, and usable throughout the region. This includes multilingual translation projects, the organisation of academic and professional events, and the creation of international exchange programmes that foster engagement among scholars, legal professionals, and students.

The inauguration marks a significant milestone in UNIDROIT’s commitment to advancing regional legal development and building meaningful partnerships throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
