UNIDROIT International Programme for Law and Development

About the IPLD Initiative

The UNIDROIT International Programme for Law and Development (IPLD) initiative created under the UNIDROIT Academy aims to advance the dissemination of international legal instruments developed by UNIDROIT. This programme fosters legal unification and provides knowledge-sharing and training for professionals in law and development.

The IPLD is made possible through the generous support of the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Who Should Join?

The programme is intended for legal and judicial professionals, particularly judges, public lawyers, and experienced legislative drafters. The IPLD aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of UNIDROIT’s legal instruments for the unification of private law. The ultimate objective is to facilitate participants’ use of these tools at the national level while fostering global collaboration and understanding.

Programme Structure and Activities

The programme has been structured into various activities, including a course that comprises a two-week series of online seminars, followed by a three-week residential session at UNIDROIT’s headquarters in Rome, Italy. So far, three editions have been held in 20222023, and 2024.

Build a Legal Framework

Furthermore, the IPLD seeks to establish a LinkedIn Community forum to nurture an international network of legal professionals committed to advancing law and development by encouraging participants to exchange ideas.
