On 26 June 2025, UNIDROIT and Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Court (BAC/BIAC) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions. The MoU was signed in Rome, by UNIDROIT Secretary-General Professor Ignacio Tirado and Mr Guo Wei, Chairperson of BAC/BIAC.
The signing ceremony was marked by addresses from Professor Ignacio Tirado and Mr Guo Wei, both of whom expressed their strong support for deepening institutional cooperation and fostering a long and fruitful relationship.
Professor Ignacio Tirado emphasised that both UNIDROIT and BAC/BIAC share a common commitment to promote an inclusive, cross-border commercial environment. He noted that the signing of the MoU represents a concrete step toward enhancing standards and institutional collaboration in the global commercial dispute resolution landscape.
Mr Guo Wei reaffirmed BAC/BIAC’s dedication to strengthening international cooperation in commercial dispute resolution. He recalled the successful hosting of two high-level events in Beijing earlier this year, and noted the strong alignment between BAC’s focus and UNIDROIT’s mission to harmonise private and commercial law.
The signing of the MoU aims to strengthen the collaboration between UNIDROIT and BAC/BIAC through joint contributions to UNIDROIT legal projects, and partnerships in organising international events and pursuing collaborative initiatives.
