The work of UNIDROIT recognised by Asia-Pacific Ministers at the APEC Structural Reform Ministerial Meeting in Korea

Between 22 – 23 October 2025, the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) participated in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Structural Reform Ministerial Meeting in Incheon, Korea. The meeting brought together Ministers from the 21 APEC Member Economies to advance the APEC structural reform agenda. During the meeting, UNIDROIT Secretary-General Professor Ignacio Tirado presented the work of UNIDROIT to the participating Ministers, highlighting key UNIDROIT instruments that support APEC’s structural reform objectives.

At the close of the meeting, the 2025 APEC Structural Reform Ministerial Meeting Joint Statement welcomed UNIDROIT’s participation in the Ministerial Meeting and specifically recognised the work of UNIDROIT being an effective tool for structural reform.

UNIDROIT has enjoyed guest status with the APEC Economic Committee since 2017 and has contributed to over a dozen APEC technical workshops. 11 UNIDROIT Member States are also APEC Member Economies – Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, and the United States.
