UNIDROIT Advances Cooperation with Viet Nam

On 3 March 2026, UNIDROIT visited the Ministry of Finance of Viet Nam, and met with Ms. Trinh Thi Huong, Deputy Director-General, and her team from the Agency of Private Enterprise and Cooperatives Development (APED). During the meeting, APED provided an overview of the Ministry’s ongoing legislative initiatives and recent developments. UNIDROIT presented several of its legal instruments and discussed how they might support these efforts. APED expressed particular interest in the UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law, Model Laws on Factoring and on Warehouse Receipts. Both sides agreed to continue the dialogue and explore potential avenues for future cooperation.

Later that day, UNIDROIT visited the Ministry of Justice of Viet Nam. Secretary-General Professor Ignacio Tirado and Principal Legal Officer Meiling Huang were received by Ms. Duong Thien Huong, Deputy Director-General of the International Cooperation Department. Discussions covered the latest developments regarding the progress of Viet Nam’s accession to UNIDROIT, as well as prospective cooperation initiatives including joint academic conferences, and scholarship/internship opportunities at UNIDROIT Headquarters in Rome. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the bilateral relationship and agreed to maintain active communication on future cooperation.
