UNIDROIT-ICC Project on International Investment Contracts discussed at OECD Conference on Investment Treaties

On 30 March 2026, the UNIDROIT Project on International Investment Contracts (IICs) was discussed at the 11th Annual Conference on Investment Treaties organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Held at the OECD headquarters in Paris, the conference brought together senior government officials, stakeholders, and experts from around the world to discuss key developments in the field of international investment.

Maria Chiara Malaguti, UNIDROIT President Emerita and Co-Chair of the Working Group on IICs, presented the draft UNIDROIT-ICC Principles and Model Clauses on IICs during Session 4 of the conference. She highlighted the key elements of the draft instrument and explained how it seeks to contribute to the modernisation and standardisation of investment contracts against the background of the broader reform of international investment law.

The session explored the growing interest in the role of investment contracts and their interaction with investment treaties. It was moderated by David Gaukrodger (OECD) and featured Anne Davies (University of Oxford), Jason Yackee (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Lise Johnson (Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP) and Lukas Schaugg (International Institute for Sustainable Development).
