UNIDROIT contributes to APEC meeting on structural reform in the Asia Pacific region

On 10 August 2025, UNIDROIT presented remotely during an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting on the “Enhanced APEC Agenda for Structural Reform” (EAASR). The meeting was held as part of the APEC 2025 3rd Senior Officers Meeting forum held in Incheon, the Republic of Korea.

The four pillars of the EAASR are (1) creating an enabling environment for open, transparent, and competitive markets; (2) boosting business recovery and resilience against future shocks; (3); ensuring equal access to opportunities for inclusive, sustainable growth and greater well-being for all societal groups; and (4) leveraging innovation, new technology, and skills development to enhance productivity and digitalisation. During the meeting, UNIDROIT Senior Legal Officer William Brydie-Watson presented on how UNIDROIT instruments can assist APEC Member Economies with implementing the EAASR. The presentation also addressed how ongoing UNDIROIT projects and possible future projects may also support APEC structural reform initiatives.

UNIDROIT has held Guest Status with the APEC Economic Committee since 2017. Eleven UNIDROIT Member States are also APEC Member Economies (Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, Korea and the United States of America).
