UNIDROIT participates in the Annual Conference of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

On 10-11 September 2026, UNIDROIT Principal Legal Officer Dr Rocco Palma participated in the Annual Conference of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on “Tax, Trade and Investment”, organised in collaboration with the King’s College of London  to mark the 20th anniversary of the Faculty of Law.

The Conference brought together academics, practitioners, public authorities and representatives of international organisations to discuss themes at crossroads between trade policy, cooperation on taxation, and international investment law.

Dr Palma delivered a presentation on the “UNIDROIT-ICC Principles and Model Clauses for International Investment Contracts” within a panel dedicated to “Reforming International Investment Law: Public Interests and Sustainable Development.” The panel was moderated by Shixue Hu, Professor of International Economic Law at CUHK. Other presentations were delivered by Professor Jean Ho from the National University of Singapore, Dr Jin SUN from the International Organisation of Mediation, and from Dr. Wei SUN from Zhong Lun Law Firm.

A lively discussion followed touching upon issues of investment law and national security, State sub-divisions as correspondents in investment arbitration proceedings, and the role of investment contracts in addressing sustainability issues.
