Building legal capacity for development through an interregional approach

As part of the UNIDROIT International Programme for Law and Development (IPLD), applications are now open for the 2026 edition of the BEPCAC Programme, dedicated to participants from the Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
UNIDROIT is also pleased to announce that the application deadline has been extended to 31 May 2026.
Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, IPLD BEPCAC, which builds on IPLD Africa Plus’s experience, reflects the Programme’s growing interregional dimension by promoting dialogue, knowledge exchange, and capacity building across diverse legal and institutional contexts.

What the programme offers

Participants will engage in an intensive programme combining:

  • lectures on key UNIDROIT instruments and ongoing projects
  • practical sessions and case-based discussions
  • interaction with UNIDROIT legal officers and international experts

The programme adopts a practice-oriented and comparative approach, aimed at strengthening the role of private law in advancing sustainable development.

Why BEPCAC

The 2026 edition marks a consolidation phase of the BEPCAC initiative, moving beyond its initial pilot dimension. It contributes to:

  • building a global IPLD community
  • strengthening interregional cooperation
  • supporting participants in applying legal tools within their national contexts
