Luxembourg Rail Protocol subject of Practical workshop in Madrid with entry into force around the corner

On 27 February 2024, UNIDROIT Secretary-General Ignacio Tirado participated in a Practical workshop on the implementation of the Luxembourg Rail Protocol in Madrid, jointly organised by the Rail Working Group and law firm Bird & Bird. The event, which brought together practitioners, academics, and industry representatives, took place at a critical juncture in the timeline leading up to the imminent entry into force of the Rail Protocol, foreseen for 8 March 2024 after the final meeting of the Rail Preparatory Commission and the first meeting of the Rail Supervisory Authority.

Secretary-General Tirado shared a presentation on “Placing the Luxembourg Rail Protocol into context”. The workshop also featured presentations from Mr José Luis Lorente of the Rail Working Group Spain and Bird & Bird, Mr Matteo Mussini of MUST and Partners, Mr Howard Rosen of the Rail Working Group, Prof. Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell of University Carlos III of Madrid, and Prof. Benjamin von Bodungen of Bird & Bird Frankfurt.
