Tbilisi State University Hosts Conference on UNIDROIT and its work on Supply Chain Contractual Frameworks

On 14 July 2026, UNIDROIT Secretary-General Prof. Ignacio Tirado and Deputy Secretary-General Prof. Anna Veneziano participated in a conference organised by the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), titled “Introducing UNIDROIT and its work from a Supply Chain Contractual Focus”.

The event, opened by TSU Deputy Rector Dr. Nino Gvenetadze, Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia Assoc. Prof. Dr. Giorgi Dgebuadze, Dean of the Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Dr. Moris Shalikashvili, and TSU faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamar Zarandia and Asst. Prof. Dr. Giorgi Amiranashvili, provided an opportunity to present UNIDROIT’s mandate and work to members of the Georgian legal and academic community, with particular emphasis on UNIDROIT’s contribution to the development and harmonisation of international commercial law and its relevance to contractual relationships within global supply chains.

Prof. Tirado and Prof. Veneziano delivered the main presentation, introducing UNIDROIT’s work and discussing issues of particular relevance to supply chain contracts. The presentation was followed by a discussion and Q&A session, moderated by Professors Zarandia and Amiranashvili, allowing distinguished participants from the Faculty and the legal professions, and students to exchange views on current developments in international commercial law and the legal challenges arising in cross-border commercial relationships.

The conference contributed to strengthening dialogue between UNIDROIT and the Georgian academic and legal community and to raising awareness of UNIDROIT’s work in the field of international commercial law.
