The 95th Session of the UNIDROIT Governing Council was held from 18 to 20 May 2016. Among other important decisions, the Governing Council adopted the amendments and additions to the 2010 UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts recommended by the Working Group on Long-Term Contracts and approved the progress made in the preparation of the preliminary draft Protocol to the Cape Town Convention on matters specific to agricultural, construction and mining equipment, which the Council considered sufficiently developed to warrant the convening of a Committee of Governmental Experts in early 2017. The Governing Council also took stock of the progress made in connection with projects related to the law of intermediated securities and transnational civil procedure, as well as the follow-up activities and promotion of the UNIDROIT/FAO/IFAD Legal Guide on Contract Farming. The Governing Council concluded its session by recommending to the General Assembly the adoption of an ambitious Work Programme for the triennium 2017 – 2019. A conference on “The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts – Contrasts and Convergence”, held on 20 May 2016, concluded the Governing Council Session meeting.
