UNIDROIT Secretariat delivers a webinar on the UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law to the Hong Kong Bar Association

On 11 July 2023, UNIDROIT representatives (Senior Legal Officer William Brydie-Watson, Legal Consultant Hamza Hameed and Legal Officer Kevin Lau) were invited by the Hong Kong Bar Association to present a webinar entitled Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law: Understanding Crypto Assets Through Comparative Law, as part of the Bar Association’s continuous professional development programme. The webinar was attended by over 60 Hong Kong barristers, pupil barristers and government lawyers. The UNIDROIT team introduced the purpose, operation and work of UNIDROIT, and then provided a detailed review of the UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law. The presentation was well-received by the attendees, who actively engaged the panellists with questions on a wide range of topics.

The webinar provided a valuable opportunity for UNIDROIT to partner with the Hong Kong Bar Association in promoting the UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law to expert legal practitioners based in Asia. The UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law were recently adopted by the UNIDROIT Governing Council at its 102nd session in May 2023.
