UNIDROIT Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Warwick Law School

On 9 October 2026, UNIDROIT and Warwick Law School signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic cooperation across a range of areas. The signing ceremony brought together representatives of both institutions to discuss opportunities for future joint activities.

The remote signing ceremony was attended by UNIDROIT Secretary-General Ignacio Tirado, Ms Myrte Thijssen, Senior Legal Officer, and Dr Philine Wehling, Legal Officer. Warwick Law School was represented by Professor Andrew Williams, Head of School; Professor Irit Mevorach, Professor of International Commercial Law; Professor Dalvinder Singh, Professor of Banking and Financial Regulation and Director of Postgraduate Studies; Professor Christian Twigg-Flesner, Professor of Contract and Consumer Law; and Dr David Gindis, LLM International Commercial Law Course Director.

Discussions highlighted the shared international and comparative outlook of UNIDROIT and Warwick Law School, as well as their common interests in commercial and private law.

Several avenues for collaboration were identified, including the integration of UNIDROIT’s work into teaching and postgraduate programmes, opportunities for Warwick academics to contribute their expertise to UNIDROIT projects and working groups, and institutional cooperation through Warwick’s new Institute for Law and Business. The possibility of student internships and research stays at UNIDROIT was also explored. Potential areas of cooperation include contract law, digital technologies, financial markets, collaborative business legal structures and cultural property.

The signing marks an important first step towards translating the new partnership into concrete activities and further strengthening the ties between UNIDROIT and Warwick Law School.
