UNIDROIT AND IIASL SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

img01On 7 December 2019, UNIDROIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Institute of Air and Space Law at Leiden University to further collaborative work on the promotion of the Cape Town Convention and its Protocols, as well as to promote research and scholarship at both institutions.

img02Participants were Professor Pablo Mendes de Leon (Professor of Air and Space Law) and Mr Niall Buissing (Director) on behalf of IIASL, and Professor Anna Veneziano (Deputy Secretary-General) and Mr Hamza Hameed (Legal Consultant) on behalf of UNIDROIT.

This MoU was signed at LUISS University as part of an event organised by Studio Pierallini celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Chicago Convention and ICAO.

img03The International Institute of Air and Space Law is one of the leading international academic research and teaching institutes in the world, specialising in legal and policy issues regarding aviation and space activities. Its objective is to contribute to the development of aviation and space law and related policy by conducting and promoting research and teaching at graduate and post-graduate level. The Institute has a modern library and organises numerous courses and conferences on all aspects of aviation and space law and policy.

As part of this MoU, an UNIDROIT-IIASL Fellowship Scheme will be established to allow researchers from IIASL to come to the UNIDROIT Library to conduct their academic research.
