The instrument of accession to the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention has been deposited by Ghana with the Italian Government, Depositary of the Convention, on 20 September 2019 and the Convention will enter into force for Ghana on 1 March 2020.
On 13 November 2019, in Pretoria at the Diplomatic Conference for the Adoption of the MAC Protocol, UNIDROIT, the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law (Cambridge), and the Aviation Working Group (AWG) announced their agreement to continue the work of the Cape Town Convention Academic Project (CTCAP).
On Tuesday 12th November, during the MAC Diplomatic Conference in Pretoria, UNIDROIT and the Rail Working Group (RWG) co-organised a side event to present and discuss the Legal Operation and Economic Benefits of the Luxembourg Rail Protocol to the Cape Town Convention, kindly hosted at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa (DIRCO).
On 11 November 2019, UNIDROIT Secretary-General Professor Ignacio Tirado opened the Diplomatic Conference for the adoption of the draft Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters Specific to Mining, Agricultural and Construction Equipment (MAC Protocol) in Pretoria, South Africa.
On 7 November 2019, the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt notified UNIDROIT of subsequent declarations under Articles 39(1)(a), 53 and 54(2) of the Convention and Articles XIX, XXX(1), XXX(2) and XXX(3) of the Aircraft Protocol.
