Draft UNIDROIT-ICC Principles and Model Clauses for IICs presented at Arbitration Academy

On 16 July 2026, Prof José Antonio Moreno Rodríguez (UNIDROIT Governing Council Member and Chair of the Consultative Committee for the project on International Investment Contracts) and Senior Legal Officer Myrte Thijssen presented the Draft UNIDROIT-ICC Principles and Model Clauses for International Investment Contracts to participants at the Arbitration Academy in Paris.

During a special course on “Arbitration under International Investment Contracts”, Prof Moreno Rodríguez elaborated on the private law focus of the draft instrument, including its guidance on remedies and dispute settlement. Ms Thijssen highlighted the draft instrument’s approach to sustainability and the solutions it proposes to address the tension between investors’ interests in stability and predictability and States’ interests in regulating in the public interest.

The Draft UNIDROIT-ICC Principles and Model Clauses for International Investment Contracts are currently open for public consultation. Interested stakeholders are invited to submit their feedback.
