Declaration under Article 53
The Government of the Republic of Costa Rica considers that the ordinary courts constitutionally established by law shall have the authority to hear and determine any dispute arising between the contracting parties or, failing that, the arbitration mechanism at the option of the same parties.
Declaration under Article 54(2)
The Republic of Costa Rica declares that any remedy available to the creditor under any provision of this Convention and the Protocol which is not there expressed to require application to the court may be exercised only with leave of the court.
The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) is an independent intergovernmental Organisation with its seat in the Villa Aldobrandini in Rome. Its purpose is to study needs and methods for modernising, harmonising and co-ordinating private and in particular commercial law as between States and groups of States and to formulate uniform law instruments, principles and rules to achieve those objectives.
