Stakeholders in Saudi Arabia discuss the UNIDROIT Model Law on Factoring

On 7 April 2026, the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) participated in an online regional conference on Supply Chain Finance and Factoring in Saudi Arabia. Organised by the FCI, the event brought together approximately 50 participants from banks, financial institutions, regulators, insurers and industry solution providers to explore the next phase of development for factoring and supply chain finance in Saudi Arabia.

During a panel on regulatory and legal frameworks for receivables finance moderated by Dr Marek Dubovec (International Law Institute), UNIDROIT Senior Legal Officer William Brydie-Watson presented the UNIDROIT Model Law on Factoring (MLF) and its Guide to Enactment as international best practice standards that could support the growth of receivables finance in Saudi Arabia. UNIDROIT will continue to work with the FCI and other partner organisations to promote the implementation of the MLF in Saudi Arabia and across the MENA region. The conference agenda is available here.

The UNIDROIT Model Law on Factoring was adopted in 2023, and its Guide to Enactment will be published later in 2026. Learn more about the UNIDROIT Model Law on Factoring at: https://www.unidroit.org/instruments/factoring/model-law-on-factoring/.
