UNIDROIT at the Second Forum on Rule of Law in Global Digital Trade (Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China)

On 23 and 24 November 2023, UNIDROIT Deputy Secretary-General Professor Anna Veneziano delivered a keynote speech at the Second Forum on Rule of Law in Global Digital Trade, held in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China and organised by the Wuhan University Academy of International Law and Global Governance and provincial and local authorities, in the framework of the Second Global Digital Trade Expo, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.

Deputy Secretary-General Veneziano presented on the recently-adopted UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law (“DAPL Principles”). The session, moderated by Professor Huang Jin, included the Secretary General of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), Mr Kamalinne Pinitpuvadol; the Deputy Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH), Ms Gérardine Goh Escolar; the Head of the UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, Ms Athita Komindr; World Economic Forum representative Mr Simon Lacey; and Professors Zhang Nan (Tsinguai University), Jingxia Shi (Renmin University and Member of the UNIDROIT Governing Council), and Tang Zhang (Wuhan University). The DAPL were further featured in Professor Matthias Lehmann’s comparative overview of private international law issues and solutions for digital assets.
