UNIDROIT participates in ADB / IFAD panel on agrifinance for smallholder farmers at the World Bank’s Legal Justice & Development week 

On 5 November 2025, the Deputy Secretary-General Anna Veneziano participated remotely in a panel discussion moderated by IFAD General Counsel Katie Meighan, together with ADB General Counsel Thomas Clark, ILI Director of Law Reform Programs Marek Dubovec, ADB Vice-Chair of Research and Senior Research Fellow Dil Rahut and IFC Global Lead, Agriculture Commodities, Global Agribusiness and Forestry Practices Adam Struve. The panel, which was organised within the WBG Legal Justice and Development Week 2025, discussed challenges and solutions to bridge the financial gap for smallholder farmers, referencing the ongoing ADB project on a toolkit for agrifinance, several regional and national initiatives of the participating organisations, as well as relevant UNIDROIT legal instruments, including the UNIDROIT/FAO/IFAD Legal Guide on Contract Farming, the Model Law on Factoring, the UNCITRAL/UNIDROIT Model Law on Warehouse Receipts, and the MAC Protocol to the Cape Convention.
