The MAC Protocol was adopted in a single original in the English and French languages, both texts being equally authentic (upon verification by the Secretariat of the Conference under the authority of the President of the Conference within ninety days after the adoption of the text as to the consistency of the texts with one another).
The MAC Protocol having been authenticated in two languages, the text is equally authoritative in each language. The terms of the treaty are presumed to have the same meaning in each authentic text. [Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties signed at Vienna on 23 May 1969, Article 33]
The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) is an independent intergovernmental Organisation with its seat in the Villa Aldobrandini in Rome. Its purpose is to study needs and methods for modernising, harmonising and co-ordinating private and in particular commercial law as between States and groups of States and to formulate uniform law instruments, principles and rules to achieve those objectives.
