Investment Contracts and UPICC – 2nd Working Group session hosted by the ICC Institute in Paris

Between 13 to 15 March 2024, the Working Group on International Investment Contracts met for its second session in Paris and online via Zoom. The meeting was attended by 28 Working Group Members and Observers.

The project on the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts (UPICC) and Investment Contracts – jointly undertaken with the ICC Institute of World Business Law – aims at developing guidance to foster the modernisation and standardisation of international investment contracts.

The session in Paris commenced with an update on the intersessional work that had been conducted since the first Working Group session in October 2023. Five thematic Subgroups had been established to which both Members and Observers of the Working Group had been invited to participate. Four Subgroups had kicked off their work, through the organisation of virtual intersessional meetings and the development of draft documents. During its second session, the Working Group discussed the preliminary results of these Subgroups and provided input on the issues and questions that had been identified for each thematic area. The discussions were guided by a Revised Issues Paper prepared by the UNIDROIT Secretariat.

The next session of the Working Group on International Investment Contracts will take place on 3-5 June 2024 at the seat of UNIDROIT in Rome.
