UNIDROIT and Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Advance Legal Scholarship and Cooperation

Rome/Dhahran, 26 May 2025 — The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) and Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a virtual ceremony held on 26 May 2025. This partnership is aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas of academic research, legal education, and capacity-building initiatives.

The MoU was signed by UNIDROIT Secretary-General Professor Ignacio Tirado and Dr. Faisal Al Anezi, Vice President for Academic Affairs at PMU. The agreement lays the foundation for a broad range of joint activities, including collaborative research projects, academic courses, and active promotion of the UNIDROIT Scholarship, Internship and Research Programme.

Opening the ceremony, Dr. Al Anezi expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and underscored PMU’s commitment to fostering international cooperation in legal education. He emphasised his strong interest in developing joint initiatives with UNIDROIT and in turning shared ambitions into tangible results in the near future.

Professor Tirado welcomed the agreement as a meaningful step toward building global academic networks and advancing the mission of legal harmonisation and development. He expressed appreciation for PMU’s engagement and reiterated UNIDROIT’s readiness to work closely with the university to implement the objectives outlined in the MoU.

This partnership reflects UNIDROIT’s ongoing efforts to deepen ties with academic institutions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
