UNIDROIT contributes to webinar launching the Oxford Commentary to the 1970 UNESCO and 1995 UNIDROIT Conventions on Stolen or Illegally Transferred Cultural Property

On 4 February 2026, UNIDROIT Legal Officer Dr. Priscila Andrade delivered a presentation on the role of due diligence in the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects.

The webinar was held in Portuguese and was organised by the Court of Auditors and Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Paraíba (Brazil), the Postgraduate Program in Legal Science of the Federal University of Paraíba, and the Brazilian branch of the International Law Association. The webinar, moderated by Professor Marcílio Franca, featured presentations from key contributors to the Oxford Commentary, government representatives and practitioners.

In addition to presenting regional and Brazilian perspectives and experiences, the webinar provided a valuable opportunity to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the 1970 UNESCO Convention, as well as the 30th anniversary of the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention.
