UNIDROIT participates in APEC Workshop on Secured Transactions and Dispute Resolution in Japan

Between 25-27 May 2022, UNIDROIT participated in an APEC Workshop on Modernising Secured Transaction Legal Regimes in APEC Economies through International Instruments and Effective Dispute Resolution Mechanisms, in Tokyo, Japan. UNIDROIT Secretary-General Ignacio Tirado delivered opening remarks at the start of the Workshop, Senior Legal Officer William Brydie-Watson co-moderated several panels on the use of UNIDROIT and UNCTIRAL instruments for regional secured transaction reforms and Senior Legal Advisor Teresa Rodriguez de las Heras Ballell delivered presentations on UNIDROIT’s projects in Digital Assets and Effective Enforcement. UNIDROIT working group experts Professor Dora Neo (University of Singapore, Model Law on Warehouse Receipts), Professor Neil Cohen (Brooklyn Law School, Model Law on Factoring, Principles on Effective Enforcement) and Professor Giuliano Castellano (University of Hong Kong, Model Law on Factoring) also delivered presentations on UNIDROIT instruments during the Workshop. UNIDROIT has been appointed as a Guest Organisation observing the APEC Economic Committee.
